Hi Anton! Thank you for your feedback! Much appreciated. If you're using WordPress for your blog, this is called the Arras theme (see link below on the right hand side). If you want a blog with more options check out the Atahualpa theme, which is one of my favorites. Feel free to stop in anytime. I try to update at least once a week but it's not often possible. I'm on Twitter much more often than that. Hope to hear from you again. :-)

Hi. I wanted to drop you a quick note to impart my thanks. I've been observing your blog for a month or so and have picked up a heap of effective information as well as relished the way you've structured your site. I am attempting to run my own blog however I think its too general and I would like to focus more on smaller topics.

I am a US citizen who has been working in Honduras for over nine years now with the poor. I have seen how the administration has taken medical care and education from the most needy of the Honduran people to fund his illegal attempts to change the constitution. Thanks for an article that clearly states the kind of man Zelaya is and his preferred friends and form of government. Its time the US grows a backbone and gets out of bed with Chavez and his cronies. Thanks for an excellent article.

God bless you Maria, thank you for telling the TRUTH about our beloved HONDURAS, we certainly do NOT want chavez style communism, much less Mel Zelaya, his followers are a ridiculous small amount of people, who are being paid to support him and cause terrorism and vandalism in our country.
We believe God will protect and defend our country.

Wow! I thank La Gringa for posting to come here. Thank you so much for writing your thoughts & putting the perspective of a latin person in the US. I am horrified at how the media has been reporting this. I have never been a CNN lover, but I didn't know they were sooo way off, nor would I know if I weren't from Honduras.

Your description sort of captures it all. I feel like the giant that has forever been rudely awakened, I am reading more about Iran and I am appalled at what the new pres is doing in the US. Freedom has cost people their lives and it can't be taken for granted.

Thank you all for taking the time to read and leave your comments. They are much appreciated. We need the world to understand what is going on in Latin America. Please keep passing the word that those of us who truly love real democracy need to take a stand sooner or later and say no to the slowly seeping red communist thinking invading our neighborhoods down there.

I laugh when I hear people here call Obama a socialist. How naive they sound. If they really lived under socialism they wouldn't even be allowed to speak up the way they do today. We need to continue supporting the good people in Honduras and in Venezuela, who are taking a stand. They set an inspiring example.

Maria, Excellent summary of what happened in Honduras and what's happening elsewhere in the region. I lived seven years in Honduras, including four under the military governments in the 70's (those really WERE military coups, btw, not what we saw this past June), and I have to say I never expected this sort of thing to happen there; I'm pleasantly surprised, to say the least.

In closing I should say that I live in Quito, Ecuador. Two days ago, the day after Correa was sworn in for a four year term, his government announced that they will seek to establish "Comites de Defensa de la Revolucion" as neighborhood watch committees dedicated to defending the government, etc. ....Just like the Comites set up in Cuba, Nicaragua (the CDS's during the Sandinista years), and Venezuela, all of which were established to spy on the citizenry, reward government allies and punish/persecute any opponents. We'll see where this goes....
